Hospitality means something a bit different for Business Improvement Districts. In our case, it’s the goal of being hospitable through Downtown Baltimore Guides (DBGs), homeless outreach, and integrated security services.

You can request the services of our safety and hospitality teams if you live or work within the boundaries of the DMA. You can request DPOB services by making a Service Request.
Our Downtown Baltimore Guides (DBGs) patrol a 106 block radius of the Downtown Baltimore core, 6am–7:30pm on weekdays, and 7am–7:30pm on weekends. DBGs serve as goodwill ambassadors, information sources, and positive welcoming advocates. Their many responsibilities include:
Creating a hospitable presence on the streets.
Patrolling designated areas on foot as “eyes and ears” of the community.
Assisting with emergency situations.
Monitoring criminal incidents but not physically engaging. If they witness criminal or unsafe activity, DBGs contact the Police and follow up with victims.
Assisting homeless individuals and others in need and attempting to connect such persons to services or housing.
Safety is also about supporting our most vulnerable populations. For more than a decade, DPOB has employed full-time homeless outreach staff to connect homeless individuals with housing or social services.
Learn MoreDowntown Partnership deploys private security to conduct foot patrol and assist our DBGs with safety concerns. We also partner with the Baltimore Police, the U.S. Marshall’s Office, University of Maryland Police, and University Of Baltimore Police.
DPOB requests and analyzes SafeStat data from the Police Department, so that we can appropriately deploy assets at locations of high crime.
