SUMMARY:Baltimore City Civil Rights Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:Baltimore’s Civil Rights Week has been more than an event. It has been a declaration\, a reminder that the work of equity is not finished\, and that our city refuses to wait. This year\, we go further. Civil Rights Week 2026\, hosted by Mayor Brandon M. Scott and the Baltimore City Office of Equity and Civil Rights\, moves beyond commemoration. Under the theme\, From Promise to Power\, this year’s convening is a call to action. From October 2 – 9\, civic leaders\, business executives\, scholars\, organizers\, philanthropists\, elected officials\, and everyday Baltimoreans will gather for a week of transformative events spanning youth empowerment\, public safety accountability\, fair labor\, disability rights\, maternal health\, and more. At a time when civil rights are being challenged\, dismantled\, and dismissed across this country\, Baltimore is choosing a different path. Under Mayor Scott’s leadership\, and through the work of the Office of Equity and Civil Rights\, this city continues to affirm that equity is not optional\, it is foundational. These events aim to celebrate the equitable advancement of Baltimore City while uniting community leaders\, residents\, scholars\, policymakers\, business leaders\, philanthropists\, and so many others. Across the country\, we are seeing growing attempts to dismiss systemic injustice\, defend exclusion\, and discredit diversity as a threat rather than one of our nation’s greatest strengths. Under Mayor Scott’s leadership\, and championed through the Baltimore City Office of Equity and Civil Rights\, Baltimore is boldly rejecting that narrative. We hope you will join us in supporting and uplifting this critical work for a better Baltimore!

SUMMARY:Cindy Blackman Santana @ Keystone Korner
DESCRIPTION:Cindy Blackman Santana celebrates the release of her new album Coherence\, a once-in-a-lifetime journey combining jazz\, rock\, fusion\, & spirituality. As a virtuoso drummer\, bandleader\, musician\, and the new face of NFL Monday Night Football\, Cindy is a sound innovator with a passion for pushing creative boundaries and exploring movement and change. She is as known for the nuances and colors she brings to her beats and fills as she is for the sheer power of her soulful playing. “Some drummers act\, some react. Some keep time\, others create it. Cindy Blackman Santana is among the few who can\,” writes Mike Zwerin of the International Herald Tribune. \nCindy has been creating magnificent musical time and space since the beginning of her career as a busking street performer in New York City in the ’80s through the present day\, touring the globe and making albums at the top of her game—including the critically acclaimed Another Lifetime (2010). In addition to collaborating onstage and in-studio with her own group—also known as Another Lifetime—she has toured and recorded with artists including Pharoah Sanders\, Cassandra Wilson\, Bill Laswell\, Joss Stone\, Joe Henderson\, Buckethead\, Don Pullen\, Hugh Masakela\, and Angela Bofill. From 1992 to 2007 and again in 2014 & 2015 she was the drummer in Lenny Kravitz’s band\, performing through multiple world tours and hit albums. In 2010\, she was part of the all-star line-up performing “Bitches Brew\,” a tribute to Miles Davis’ seminal album staged at the San Francisco Jazz Festival and NYC Winter JazzFest. \nTickets HERE
