Monument Lighting – 50th Anniversary Celebration

December 2 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Fireworks show during Baltimore's annual monument Lighting Celebration

The annual Monument Lighting celebration in Mt. Vernon is a Baltimore holiday tradition.

Presented by BGE

2021 marks 50 years of holiday cheer, live music, local eats, and spectacular fireworks in Downtown Baltimore’s Mt. Vernon Place.

When & Where

Thursday, December 2 from 5-8pm.
Mt. Vernon Place
699 Washington Pl, Baltimore, MD 21201

About the Event

What started as a quiet gathering of neighbors a half century ago has evolved to become a longstanding Baltimore ritual and the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season. Now in its 50th year, the Annual Monument Lighting invites revelers to properly celebrate the season with food, live performances and a fireworks display. All are invited to bring their friends, neighbors and masks for this time-honored tradition. This event represents a transition with Downtown Partnership producing the Monument Lighting one last time before handing it over to the Mt. Vernon Place Conservancy. The Conservancy, which oversees the monument and the parks that surround it, will assume full responsibility for the event starting in 2022.
